According to journalist Alan Nixon, Rovers have lodged a bid for highly-rated left-back Harry Pickering from League One side Crewe Alexandra.
Rovers have been linked with the full-back in recent days, and it appears the next step has been made in bringing the Crewe man to Ewood Park.
The 22-year-old came through the Crewe academy, a setup that has brought through a handful of the club’s current first-team, and Pickering has progressed into an impressive full-back, receiving plaudits from across the EFL.
He has made over a century of appearances for the Railwaymen, and looks ready to make the step up to the next level.
Pickering’s injury record and minutes completed speak for themselves, with the full-back substituted just twice in Crewe’s promotion season from League Two last season.
Only two players made more passes than him in the fourth tier in the 2019-20 season, as he became a key figure in Crewe’s build-up play.
The signing could be an inspired one for Rovers, and could see Barry Douglas’ loan spell at the club end early and the Scot could return to Leeds United.
