Alex Baker and Harrison Wood both scored for the second successive match as Rovers U18s ran out as victors away to Leeds U18s.
Last week’s victory over Wolves U18s, which saw Mike Sheron’s side run out as 3-2 victors in a dramatic victory over the West Midlands-based side, saw Baker score twice and Wood grab the winner.
And Wood was on the scoresheet for the second week running, grabbing his fourth goal of the U18 Premier League season, to put Rovers ahead on 16 minutes.
Rovers’ lead was doubled around twenty minutes later, as Adam Wharton – brother of first-team defender Scott – set up Baker for his fifth of the season to put the visitors in control.
Despite Keenan Carole’s strike sixteen minutes from time setting up a nervy ending, Sheron’s side held out for all three points and their third victory of the league season.
Rovers will look to pick up a third consecutive victory this Saturday as they face second-placed Liverpool away from home, with the Merseyside outfit the outright top scorers in the U18 Premier League this season, scoring 42 – twice as many as Rovers (42).
Rovers: Goddard, Haddow, Famiwuya, Pratt, Gent, Weston, Fyles (Dury 82′), Chmiel (Cunningham 57′), Wharton, Wood (Montgomery 83′), Baker (c)
