Rovers U18s began 2021 with a defeat to Everton U18s, despite Alex Baker’s second half equaliser.
It was the first match in just under four weeks for Mike Sheron’s Rovers side, since a draw at home to Manchester City.
On a tough playing surface affected by the recent weather, the fixture got off to a scrappy start with both teams finding their feet following the recent winter break.
Just eleven minutes in, Katia Kouyate broke through on goal and fired powerfully past Felix Goddard to put the visitors ahead.

Rovers responded well, however, but couldn’t find a breakthrough before the break, leaving them behind when the half-time whistle went.
Mike Sheron’s side came out in the same fashion in the second half, and got their reward five minutes after the restart, as Alex Baker got on the end of Georgie Gent’s cross to nod home the equaliser.
The visiting Toffees responded well, and as they took control of the match, Charlie Whitaker was played through on goal just after the hour mark and he made no mistake, slotting past Goddard.
The hosts gave their all in the final thirty minutes, but Everton stood strong and held out for the victory, leaving Rovers without a victory since their 2-1 win over local rivals Burnley back in October.
The U18s are back in action on Saturday as they host Manchester United U18s at Brockhall, who sit top of the U18 Premier League.
