Ratings: Kaminski and Lenihan impress in Norwich draw

Following the eventful 1-1 draw with league leaders Norwich City, Jonathan Secker hands out his player ratings.

Thomas Kaminski 9 (MAN OF THE MATCH)

Superb performance from Tommy K. Made several great saves throughout the game including two notable ones from Emi Buendia and one from Teemu Pukki. To think he cost less than half a million is bonkers, and knowing we move into next season with him as a number one is a great starting point.

Joe Rankin-Costello 8

Another impressive performance from JRC.  A constant threat down the right providing several crosses into the danger zone.  Always trying to make something happen and never shirks his defensive responsibility.  Please, please sign that contract!

Darragh Lenihan 8

Absolute rock at the back- a proper captain’s showing. He shackled Pukki well throughout, including a superb last-ditch block in the final parts of the game.

Taylor Harwood-Bellis 8

Another impressive performance from the youngster who gets better with each game. Positionally excellent as he made several key interceptions.

Barry Douglas 7

Decent showing and always an option down the left-hand side. Made a vital defensive header to deny Gibson a clear chance at goal.

Corry Evans 7

Best performance from Evans for a while. Sound in front of the back four and calm on the ball. He did the dirty work to allow those around him to push forward. Was unlucky to be punished when seeming to win the ball in the tackle high up the pitch.

Lewis Holtby 7

Good shift from Holtby building on his second half performance in midweek. Was involved throughout as he found the space between the lines. When fit. he is definitely an asset.

Joe Rothwell 7

Influential in the first half as he provided an attacking outlet for the team. Not much better sights in a Rovers shirt when Rothwell is in full flow with the ball at his feet. He seems more at home and effective in a central position.

John Buckley 6

Decent performance from Buckley as he started occupying the false nine position. Pressed throughout and had a couple of early chance that didn’t really trouble Krul. Has come of age over the last month.

Ben Brereton 6

Better than midweek as he fought gallantly down the right-hand side.  A physical threat when putting Norwich on the back foot – needed more composure in final third.

Tyrhys Dolan 6

As always. he was lively and wanted the ball but chances were limited. I would have liked to see him be more direct when the chances did arise.

Harvey Elliott (on 64 mins, replacing John Buckley) 7

Made an impact off the bench. He took up some intelligent positions and was always looking to be involved.  Another assist when providing a quality ball for Gallagher to head home.

Sam Gallagher (on 64 mins, replacing Ben Brereton) 7

Another impressive cameo from the bench for Gallagher as he rose highest to head home the equaliser.  Worked his socks off but wished he would have tried a lob at goal rather than a dink over the keeper’s head.

Stewart Downing (on 70 mins, replacing Corry Evans) 6

Might not have the legs but still a quality footballer – brought calmness to the pitch as we pushed forward to chase an equaliser.

Elliott Bennett (on 70 mins, replacing Joe Rankin-Costello) 6

A solid enough cameo from Benno at right-back.

Bradley Johnson (on 85 mins, replacing Lewis Holtby) N/A

Late appearance off the bench for Holtby.
