Rovers U23s return to Premier League 2 action this evening following a three-week break as they take on Everton U23s.

Billy Barr’s young Rovers make the trip to Southport’s The Pure Stadium to take on a young Toffees side who sit 8th in the PL2 table.

Last time out, Billy Barr’s side drew 1-1 with Brighton and Hove Albion, and will be looking to extend their unbeaten run to six matches.

The match will kick off at 7pm, with the fixture shown live on Everton’s official YouTube channel.

The Opposition

Managed by David Unsworth, the young Toffees have picked up 26 points from their 19 league fixtures so far, picking up a point at the County Ground when the sides last met.

However, Tyler Onyango – who scored in that fixture – will miss this fixture after being sent off in their last match against Arsenal.

Everton have two players with eight goals so far this season, with Nathan Broadhead taking the lead role since Ellis Simms departed on loan to Blackpool in January.

Team News

After missing the reverse fixture due to the U18s’ Youth Cup fixture, Jake Garrett, Jared Harlock and Lenni Cirino all could return to the fold for Billy Barr – as could forwards Alex Baker and Zak Gilsenan.

Jordan Eastham could return between the sticks with Antonis Stergiakis featuring last time out due to the rotational policy between the two.

Sam Burns is expected to lead the line after being nominated for the Premier League 2 Player Of The Month Award for March, whilst Connor McBride should keep his place.

Rovers remain without Luke Brennan due to injury.

Predictions

Predicted XI: Eastham, Pike, Annesley, Barnes, Cirino, Saadi, Nolan, Harlock, Durrant, Burns, McBride

This will be a tough test for Rovers against a Toffees side that have averaged two points per game in their home fixtures this season.

However, Rovers are the best away team in the division and will fight until the end, and I’m backing them to have the edge over Everton.

Prediction: Everton U23s 1-3 Rovers U23s
