Ryan Richardson puts the scores on the doors from Rovers’ defeat at Hillsborough…

Note: The players are rated on a scale from 1 to 10, with 10 being the highest.

Thomas Kaminski 7 (MAN OF THE MATCH)

Rovers’ standout player in a game which left much to be desired. Wrong footed for the goal due to a deflection, and made several other key saves to keep Rovers in the game.

Elliott Bennett 4

A tough night for ‘Benno’ up against the extremely lively Adam Reach. Was guilty of giving away possession cheaply on too many occasions and wasn’t quick enough to react when needed.

Darragh Lenihan 6

Made a great block to stop Wednesday doubling their lead right before the half and put in a solid performance on his return to the line-up.

Taylor Harwood-Bellis 6

Yet another steady performance from the Man City loanee. He comfortably dealt with most of the danger that Wednesday threw at him.

Barry Douglas 4

His deliveries were extremely poor, and he struggled against Palmer at wing-back. Another disappointing game from the Leeds loanee.

Tom Trybull 5

He slowed the game down when it needed to be sped up and was careless in possession too many times.

Corry Evans 5

Seemed a bit of a ghost throughout the game. He was playing a bit further forward than he was used to and struggled to make an impact on the game.

Joe Rothwell 5

Often found himself too deep to make an impact on proceedings and affect the game like we know he can.

Harvey Elliott 6

Played some nice, disguised passes in the first half and often showed glimpses of creating something in a game that lacked any real quality.

Adam Armstrong 5

Was very short of service for the entire game but worked hard and was full of running.

Sam Gallagher 5

Should have done much better with a chance in the first half after Armstrong found him in the box. Struggled to impact the game as Wednesday matched his physical presence.

Substitutions:

Stewart Downing (on 67 mins, replacing Harvey Elliott) 5

A part of a quadruple substitution and he was given very minimal touches of the ball for him to impact proceedings.

Ben Brereton (on 68 mins, replacing Tom Trybull) 6

He injected a bit of life into an otherwise lifeless Rovers team with his direct running but ultimately, he couldn’t help produce an equaliser.

Lewis Travis (on 68 mins, replacing Sam Gallagher) 5

Struggled to make much impact on the game but was full of running looking to break up play and win the ball back.

John Buckley (on 68 mins, replacing Corry Evans) 5

Squandered a golden opportunity to equalise after Armstrong found him in the box.

Tyrhys Dolan (on 84 mins, replacing Joe Rothwell) N/A

Subbed on too late to make any impact.
