Chris Heyes hands out his player ratings as Rovers’ centre-halves help Mowbray’s men win the match…

Thomas Kaminski 6

Made a couple of decent early saves but had very little else to do. Should have saved Forest’s goal.

Seeing him line up at right-back worried me, but I shouldn’t have worried at all. He handled everything thrown at him, and was pivotal in our winning goal.

Darragh Lenihan 8

A match winning goal and match-winning leadership as he commanded the defence all game. True captain’s performance.

Daniel Ayala 8

His partnership with Lenihan is developing nicely, so calm on the ball and a rock at the back. Oh yeah, he can score a beautiful header too.

Harry Pickering

A perfect delivery for our opening goal and a strong display down the left. Starting to grow into this team.

Lewis Travis

I love watching this lad play. He embodies everything Rovers need this season. Never say die attitude, tough in the tackle and winds the opposition up. Man Of The Match

John Buckley 7

Establishing himself as an important first-teamer now. The creative spark to compliment Travis. On another day, he could have – and probably should have – had a couple of goals.

Joe Rothwell

His all-round game is improving by the week. Still has the divine ability to jink his way through opposition defences in the blink of an eye along with a huge influence in the defensive third too.

Sam Gallagher 8

Tireless work for the entire 90 minutes. His performances often get overlooked but he was a permanent menace to the Forest backline.

Tyrhys Dolan

Another high energy pressing game and performs the tasks asked of him so well. His goals will come in time.

Ben Brereton-Diaz

Not at his best but still gave everything to the cause. Becoming a leader of men on the pitch now too.

Substitutions

Jacob Davenport 6 (replaced Tyrhys Dolan after 74 mins)

Came on to solidify the midfield and helped push us over the line.

Harry Chapman 7 (replaced Joe Rothwell after 74 mins)

If we can get 90 minutes like this cameo from him, then he’ll be pivotal to our season. Looked lively and earned Gabriel his red card. Delightful free-kick leading to our winner.
