Ratings as Pickering and Dolan impress in Luton draw

Chris Heyes hands out his player ratings from Rovers’ draw with Luton Town…

Thomas Kaminski 6

Made one crucial save of note to deny Cameron Jerome, but that first clean sheet since March still eludes him.

Strong as ever in defence and was a threat when going forward. Got the assist for Dolan’s opener and was so close to opening his goal-scoring account.

Darragh Lenihan 6

He can count himself very fortunate to have remained on the pitch after his challenge on Campbell. Wasn’t as imposing as usual with the yellow hanging over his head.

Daniel Ayala 7

Dealt with Luton’s attacks well for the majority of the game and was the far more dominant of the centre backs.

Harry Pickering 8

Hopefully, this is the beginning of the Harry Pickering we saw at Crewe. An all-action attacking threat that culminated in a beautifully taken goal. Looked far more composed and sturdy at the back too.

Lewis Travis

Card after card was shown, and incredibly Trav didn’t receive one. Was guilty of a couple of sloppy passes that could have been punished and was slow to react in the build-up to the equaliser.

John Buckley

Started slowly but grew into the game. His break up play is becoming a real trait of his now and his range of passing is still a thing of beauty.

Joe Rothwell 6

Bright start from Joe who looked like our main threat early on. As the game became much more physicaml his ability to drive forward suffered.

Tyrhys Dolan 8

Got the goal that his performance deserved. Harried the Luton defence all game and showed some lovely bits of trickery. Was the brightest spark of the afternoon. Man Of The Match

Sam Gallagher 5

As usual, the effort that he puts in can not be questioned, but his failure to put the ball in the onion bag constantly is an issue.

Ben Brereton Diaz 6

Played a crucial role in Pickering’s goal and could have had his own if it wasn’t for the woodwork.

Jacob Davenport 5 (replaced John Buckley after 74 mins)

Brought on, as usual, to tighten things up but struggled to do so this time.

Tyler Magloire 5 (replaced Joe Rothwell after 80 mins)

Thrown on to add the extra defender but was ultimately to no avail.
