Chris Heyes hands out the ratings as Rovers lose at the John Smith’s Stadium…

Thomas Kaminski 6

Made a couple of crucial saves during the second half. Didn’t seem as composed as usual with his distribution.

Ryan Nyambe 6

After a shaky opening five minutes, he grew into the game. Was coping with everything thrown at him and his absence when taken off with concussion mid way through the first half was very noticeable.

Hayden Carter 6

A tough evening for the young centre half. Was caught flat footed a couple of times during the build up to Huddersfield’s goals.

Daniel Ayala 7

Was the only stable member of the back line. Won three or four big headers but struggled as a unit without his partner Lenihan.

Harry Pickering 5

Attempted to create chances but with little end result. Was caught out of position far too often and looked like he needs a rest towards the end of the game.

Lewis Travis 7

Captain for the night and looked like a real leader. Was good defensively and tried to get forward a lot more than usual.

John Buckley 6

The quality of delivery from his role at right wing back was good but we missed his bite in midfield after Nyambe’s injury.

Joe Rothwell 7

After the change in system we missed his attacking threat, that we only really saw when he created Brereton Diaz’s opening goal.  Could be a big miss depending on the time scale of his injury.

Tyrhys Dolan 6

Was full of running early on but Huddersfield got to grips with him. Another player that looked like he needed a rest.

Sam Gallagher 5

The game seemed to pass him by without him having any real affect on it. A couple of well won headers were the only things to note.

Ben Brereton-Diaz 8

The Championship top scorer gave the Huddersfield defence more problems than any other Rovers player. Deserved his opening goal and put his penalty away calmly. MAN OF THE MATCH

Substitutes

Tyler Magloire 4 (replaced Ryan Nyambe after 21 mins)

Had a torrid evening on the right of a back three. His inexperience showing on a number of occasions.

Ian Poveda 4 (replaced Joe Rothwell after 75 mins)

Gave away possession countless times in his brief cameo, very little end product to anything he tried to create.

Leighton Clarkson 5 (replaced Gallagher after 79 mins)

Showed a couple of nice touches to set up Brereton Diaz but didn’t have enough opportunities to influence the game

Reda Khadra 5 (replaced Tyrhys Dolan after 79 mins)

Didn’t have the desired effect that the fans and Tony were hoping for. Few bits of trickery but like others, no end product.
