Ratings: High marks all round as Rovers thrash Peterborough

Completing our content from the victory over Peterborough, Daniel Ainsworth hands out his player ratings…

Thomas Kaminski 8

Always find rating the ‘keeper tough in matches like these. However, Kaminski had a bit to deal with following the half-time break and made sure there was no nervy ending for the team.

A strong defensive performance after facing some criticism after the Bristol City draw. Probably didn’t get forward as much as he wanted to but he did his main job without any issues.

Darragh Lenihan 8

He commanded the defence like a true captain and got a deserved goal. Looks to come into his own when leading a back three and he did that well here.

Daniel Ayala 6

Back in the side after impressing off the bench at Bristol. Disappointing to see the Spaniard withdrawn early on. We now await news of how long he will miss out.

Scott Wharton 8

Made a key block in the first half and was solid throughout. Calm and comfortable on the ball, and not afraid of putting a foot in.

Harry Pickering 8

Expected to see the best of him in a wing-back role and he did just that. A really well taken header and was a threat going forward all game. Defensively secure as well.

Lewis Travis 8

His workrate in front of the back three was excellent and gave Buckley and Rothwell the freedom to get forward.

Joe Rothwell 9

The type of performance that makes the supporters realise how important Rothwell signing a new deal is. Two assists to his name on a night where Peterborough’s only way of stopping him was hacking him down.

John Buckley 8

The range of passing he possesses impresses me every match and rightly so. His calmness on the ball is a pleasure to watch. The delivery for Pickering’s header was another sign of Buckley’s class.

Ben Brereton Diaz 9

Two goals to add to his already impressive tally. The first was on a plate for him and the second was a lovely finish. A well rounded performance and he just takes the man of the match award for me ahead of Rothwell. Man Of The Match

Tyrhys Dolan 8

He runs, he runs, and then he runs a little more. A constant threat and his pressure paid off as he laid the ball on a plate for Brereton Diaz’s first.

Bradley Johnson 7 (replaced Daniel Ayala after 28 mins)

A surprise introduction for Johnson but he deputised for Ayala well and made a couple of key blocks.

Reda Khadra 7 (replaced Ben Brereton Diaz after 61 mins)

Showed the flair we expect now from him, albeit with no outcome. A real threat to the Peterborough full back.

Danny Butterworth 7 (replaced John Buckley after 68 mins)

He wanted his goal and saw a few efforts blocked. A decent cameo from Danny.
